I disagree. Male entitlement, its extreme form manifesting as incels, certainly exists and stems from the patriarchal conviction that women are inferior. That is not to say that all men act or think in these terms. There are many men who describe themselves as feminists and treat women with the respect every human deserves. As for the creative license – of course, I never said this was a scientific study! Instead, I described my own experience and how it felt to be approached by a stranger online. I tried to analyse the language my counterpart used and how I think the patterns of this conversation originate in traditional gender-roles and male supremacy. “Parthiv” might not be a bad person – but he is certainly one socialised in a patriarchal society.
