You must keep in mind that when I was writing this article, I already knew how the conversation played out. I knew that Parthiv first claimed he needed a friend, then proceeded to compliment me and asked whether I had a boyfriend, only to finally deny any flirting, insisting that he was only interested in friendship and I misread everything. Such behaviour is manipulative and indeed entitled – entitled to other person’s trust, time, and privacy. This entitlement might not be obvious in the beginning, when a stranger simply reaches out to “talk”, but it becomes obvious once the conversation develops.
